Hong Kong II

Next stop ---- Disneyland!!! :D

Their signature Disney train. Whee~ I'm excited already!

The entire train has been 'disney-ed' out. Even the handle-bars are Mickey Mouse shaped.

Extra-large Mickey Fantasia Hat.

...and we're here! :)

My all-time favourite cartoon character - Ariel. I remember watching 'Little Mermaid' sooooo many times when I was young that I could sing along to all the songs and I even knew their dialogue!

We had to take a photo with another of Disneyland's signatures.

Goofing around in their store. :p

Elaine looks like a 'ge ge' princess from 'huan zhu ge ge'!

Meowwwwwww......

A High School Musical float.

Trying to be astronauts in 'Tomorrow Land'.

A Disney musical! You know how Disney cartoons always break into dramatic song-and-dance during their cartoons? This was exactly like one of those. It's kinda weird that all the characters there spoke Cantonese, but it was still good nonetheless.

Pretty "Small World" It's one of the newest attractions at Hong Kong's Disneyland.

I know I'm a little too old for this...but who can resist the spinning tea cups! I was spun back to childhood!

It was really really hot, so I bought a mickey fan to cool myself down....only to find it rather useless. It didn't produce much wind! It was just .....cute...haiz!

We had to do the Disney touristy thing and take pictures with all the characters! :D

Let me be Cinderella!!!

The fairy-tale like carousel...where's my prince and his white horse!?

Magical colourful Disney parade...check out the floats!

Hong Kong Disneyland is probably the smallest of all the disneylands, but it still got me really excited to be there. Elaine, my cousin calls me the 夢幻公主 - where everything in my world needs to be pretty, glittery, pink and fluffy. Haha.

And all good things have to come to an end. :( ....here we are waiting for our transport at the lobby (posing with one of the many sculptures scattered all over the hotel).

And miniD eats again! A dumpling at "Heng Heong" restaurant at the airport. The old wive's cake that they sell are really delicious!

Our loot of perishable goods we had to cart back by hand.

Bye bye Hong Kong! I'll be back!

Vote for David Cook!

David Cook sang Collective Soul's "The World I Know" for his finale song. I've always loved this song and I thought his performance was awesome! I hope he wins american idol...as opposed to choir boy David A. *fingers crossed*

Sichuan Earthquake

For the first time, I had to hold back my tears from reading a news report in the Straits Times. The detailed coverage showed the extensive destruction of the earthquake that measured 7.9 on the richter scale. The mass crumbling of tofu-like buildings all around caused thousands to be trapped under fallen rubble with thousands injured, killed and desperately seeking help. The survivors who had their homes suddenly ripped away from them, are left aimless and cast out on the streets. Death tolls could eventually reach up to 50,000.

I was shocked by our merciless nature and I was jolted to re-think how lucky I was to be sitting comfortably in my home reading about the devastating news that was happening concurrently in another part of the world. I only hope that aid would reach the victims quickly, and that the survivors, and those who has had their loved ones torn away from them will find strength to recover from their harrowing experience.

As for the rest of us lucky enough to not be part of it, perhaps it's time to start counting our blessings?

Diet Problems.

I've had gastritis since I got back from Hong Kong. I think it was probably due to all that oily and rich food I had,... and the stress of shopping (?!). I spoke to a doctor/ nutritionist today about my constant tummy problems and migraines, and she advised that I cut out wheat, dairy and soy products from my diet. Which equates, cutting out: my favourite 'honey stars+milk' breakfast, my favourite eggs (all types), my favourite noodles (especially the 'dah mee' from the hawker centres), soya bean milk products, cookies, cakes etc etc etc. Instead, she recommends porridge for breakfast, salads or rice for lunch and again rice with simple vegetables, soup, fish and meat for dinner. Yeakssssssss!! Boo! What have I "Jeneen the foodie" got to live for now? :(

Home Sweet Home.

I'm back from my trip to Hong Kong! I was there for 5 days, and all I did was - eatshop.eatshop.eatshop.eatshop. :D My kinda life! But! Not forgetting Disneyland of course. I could never give my favourite place a miss. :) Same old...i LUV holidays!! wheee!

Introducing miniD!

miniD enjoying his plane ride, his glass of apple juice and nuts. :)

My sleeping cousin, Elaine. That girl can really sleep on planes! She gets on, settles down, and snoozes throughout...and only wakes for meals.

That's me and miniD, bored on the plane. It was only a 3 half hour ride, but I still got really fidgety and erm, bored. Inflight movies and stuff don't do it much for me.

Lunch! - A yucky one though, I hardly touched the food...even the Hagen Dazs ice cream, because it was chocolate: my least favourite ice cream flavour. :(

This was probably taken before Elaine started hibernating...or was it after? I forgot. Anyways, we were looking forward to landing.

Yipee, we finally touched-down. :) Waiting for the hotel shuttle to take us to our hotel, Langham Place at Mongkok.

In our hotel room: miniD getting comfortable on the huge bed with many pillows.

Elaine getting comfortable too.

Our very hi-tech room. It comes complete with i-pod dock, DVD player, huge flat screen TV and other techy stuff.

Nice bathroom with nice lighting. I really hate harsh, florescent lights in bathrooms.

View from our 26 floor. It gets extremely pretty at night with all the lights.

Cam-whoring with miniD and Elaine. :)

Langham Place is my favourite hotel to stay in Hongkong. It's conveniently located in Mongkok (very near Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui etc) and it's linked to Langham shopping centre (where H&M is located!!!) and the MTR station. Opposite the hotel, there are lots of shops, eateries, a stall selling really yummy chewy fish balls, a spa place where I go for foot massages, as well as the Ladies's Market. Plus, I love the avant-garde, artsy look of the hotel and it always smells nice. Ok, that sounds kinda weird, but I think they constantly burn aromatherapy or something, but really, the hotel always smells really nice.

Our first meal in HongKong. Elaine brought me to this little shop in Kowloon that sells really yummy dumplings! *slurps*

Up bright and early the next day eager to hit the stores and chomp up all the yummy food! :D

Dim-sum in a restaurant in Langham Mall. ~ another place I always go to when I visit HongKong.

miniD eyeing the bird's nest egg tart.

Attacking a super yummy egg yolk custard bun. mmmm....

The colourful streets of HongKong.

Lunch at Tsui Wah (Causeway Bay), a popular 'cha chan teng'. They serve really yummy food...especially their condense milk+butter bun. *slurps* We went back there many times during the course of our trip...till the waiter recognised us: the two 'foreigners' who are always carting too many shopping bags, and who order food with a smattering of cantonese, mandarin, english and sign language. Nothing gets in the way between us and their condense milk+butter buns. :D

My favourite must-have dish in Hong Kong! 豬扒飯

Look at the clothes I got for Domo! :D He looks super cute in his 'hip-hop bling' suit and the sushi chef shirt. :D

And here's my loot midway of the trip. I got really excited at H&M... I also got myself a ToyWatch complete with pink bling and silver crystal bling skull! (Hong kong has a really extensive range of ToyWatches!) Whoots!! :)))))

....*yawns* that's all I have to share for now, the Zzzz monster is attacking me. Will continue the post soon. *sweet dreams!
